	WEITMOSERSCHLÖSSL (picture today) Behind the castle built in 1554 there is the Stubnerkogel, whose woods are missing up to high altitudes or are only sparsely existent. The enormous need of wood of the smelting plants had already led to an alarming situation in the 16th century. In the year 1521 75 per cent of the originally existent woods were felled. This was a decisive reason why the smelting plants in Gastein and in Rauris were given up in the second half of the 16th century and a central smelting plant was taken into operation in Lend. www.weitmoserschloss.at

	ERZWIES The big area of the Erzwies is geologically characterized by contact zones between lime rock, slate and gneiss lying underneath. The deposit contains a lot of lead minerals, mainly galena. Of the two noble metals silver is primarily found but gold also existed and still exists. The area is characterized by a large number of galleries and shafts. The "singing hole" is famous, where striking noises were heard by miners, perhaps caused by turbulent air or by water .
